Diabolik: A handful of glass

Diabolik is the main character of a fumetti (italian comic), which was created by Angela and Luciana Giussani in 1962. He is a smart and ruthless professional thief, helped by his lover Eva Kant. His main opponent is Inspector Ginko. Diabolik's popularity in most European countries has faded over the years, as have pulp comics in general, but new episodes are still published in Italy.

In 1968 director Mario Bava and producer Dino De Laurentiis made a feature film based on the fumetti, called Danger: Diabolik, starring John Philip Law and Marisa Mell.

Last time I was in Rome I bought a few of these fumetti at the newsstand at Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina. The 60s feel of the movie is absent, but it was still fun to finally see it in fumetti-form and read it. (Well, sort of... I had to use a free online translation service.)

A few pages from Una manciata di vetri. (Diabolik R, n.50, 2007) by S. Zaniboni and F. Paludetti.
